SpotOn Customer Review: The Best Portable Electric Fence for Dogs

Marley is a 4 year old chocolate lab who lives in a cul de sac. Like most labs, Marley has an easy going temperament and loves to be around people. When his owner, Justin, was looking at fencing options, he wanted something flexible for Marley.

“We live in a cul de sac neighborhood. There aren't any fences in the neighborhood. We wanted to keep it that way. So we didn't want to install a physical barrier, and we were looking at electric fences. One of the things that I was concerned about was damaging the embedded line that's underground. Another was that I wanted something that was flexible so that I could change the kind of the boundary and maybe have a front yard and a backyard boundary or maybe let him roam throughout the whole property.”

“Instead of installing a fixed fence system to retain Marley, we could take that to friends and family houses and vacations and things like that. After receiving the wireless fence, Justin started training Marley to recognize the audible tones. The pair walked the perimeter fence line allowing Marley to hear the warning tones. Within three days he started recognizing the tones, and after a week Marley was fully trained and learned to recognize his new boundaries. 

Once Marley was trained, he was able to start using SpotOn in multiple locations. 

“We've used it at my mother's house, my in-laws house, at friends' homes. We've taken it on vacation and it's worked out great. We've taken him camping. We've taken him down to the cape and Martha's Vineyard. He likes to travel, so the collar helps us to be able to do that.”

How has SpotOn changed life for you?

“I can monitor him in the app.. I can see where he is on the property.  If he does leave the yard, I receive a text message or a notification on my phone that says Marley’s left the perimeter. Within a few seconds, he corrects himself and he comes right back into the property. So with that static correction or vibration if he breaches, he will immediately come right back into the property. It’s been really great for him too because he has the freedom to roam outside whenever he wants to. And we have the peace of mind knowing that he's going to stay where he's supposed to stay.”
